Heartbeat Country and Harry Potter Hikes

Come and explore the North York Moors around Goathland - home of the TV series 'Heartbeat' and used in the filming of Harry Potter. This guided hike is available for all ages but requires some basic fitness. 6, 8, 10 &12 mile distances are available. 

Starting at either Grosmont or Goathland, the walks take in the best of this breathtakingly beautiful part of the National Park. Follow the monks trod through protected woodland, visit the famous 'hole in the wall' Beck Hole Inn, follow the river to the magical Malleon Spout Waterfall. 

Take in the best views over Heartbeat Country, visit the steam train station where the Harry Potter scenes were filmed, then meander through some mythical landscape little known to the average hiker. Take a rest along the way while you listen to the stories, lore and legend particular to this area that will enrich your experience .

There are also stops for comfort breaks, purchased food and drink or brought picnics. The best coffee, cakes, ice cream, beer on tap, and other delights are available along the way.

Half and Full Day Adventure Walks

  • Half day tours £100
  • Full day tours £200 (discounts for couples, small parties and educational groups)

What to Bring

Depending on the time of year, different clothing may be suitable. But as a general rule, walkers will need the following whatever the time of year:

  • Sturdy and comfortable walking shoes or boots and suitable socks
  • Warm and waterproof layers
  • Zip-off trousers are a good option - allowing for flexibility
  • Hat, scarf and gloves OR sunhat and suncream (depending on time of year)
  • Rucksack, snacks and picnic lunch (if required), full water bottle
